A fine set of matched of seven equestrian paintings of "Hunters in Stable" by a follower of John Frederick Herring, they oppose one another with four right facing and three left facing poses. The works are each initialed in the folds of the warming blankets E. They have been beautifully conserved and are housed in contemporary giltwood frames. Hung as a group, the paintings make an incredibly powerful presentation.
Edwin Brown focused almost exclusively on equestrian portraiture, much of his work depicting the "Hunters" in both landscape and stable interiors, often accompanied by small dogs. These were generally signed E.
