Famed wildlife illustrator Priscilla Barrett produced a multitude of works, including the Field Guide to the Carnivores of the World which she co-illustrated with Luke Hunter (published in 2011 by New Holland Publishers). David Macdonald collaborated with her to produce Encyclopaedia of Mammals as main illustrator.
She painted every species in Macdonald's Guide to European Mammals and its companion European Mammals (in pen and ink). She went on to illustrate every book Macdonald wrote. He said about her: Few artists in a generation have mastered the detail of mammalian behaviour so insightfully. As she continued her collaboration with both David Macdonald and Luke Hunter, she created some of her most beautiful illustrations.She was elected to the Society of Wildlife Artists in 1987 and exhibited regularly at the annual exhibition in the Mall Galleries until 2011. Priscilla Barrett was born May 4, 1944, Cape Town, South Africa, and died in Cambridge, England, February 16, 2021. They are each 18" wide x 14.5" tall x approximately 1.25 deep and are expertly framed with double matting and a stacked frame.
The outside wooden gilt carved frame is almost 1 3/4 wide. They are signed "Barrett" on the outer matting.
