This listing is for both paintings together. These are all original signed hand painted portraits of 2 DACHSHUND dogs, 1 black, 1 sandy brown. I LOVE these so much! They were painted in the 1940's or early 1950's.
The burlap matting was all the rage during this period. They are both framed in matching wood frames, dark brown. The background of both paintings is a "flesh" color... I added a little video clip in natural light. Photos are all taken next to a window light so it's not even, but gives the most accurate colors. These were stored in a garage for a while before I rescued them, so they have the typical vintage flaws like dust, nicks & scratches & possibly, just on the black dog, on the back looks like something stuck to the back & tore off some of the paper & the matting is darker on 1 side corner. They are nailed into the frame in the back with 6 small nails.
1 nail has come loose on the black dog corner. No damage or flaws to either oil painting on the front. Small age related cosmetic flaws to frames, normal nicks & scratches on frames as shown in photos. The black dog's burlap matte has darkening on bottom right corner/side & here & there & on the back of same picture it has scuffs to the board (SEE PICS). The oil paintings both have no scratches or flaws at all on the front art side, aside from a bit of dust.Hanson" SIZE: Each picture is 19 3/4" WIDE X 16" TALL TOTAL - Just the inside without frame (including matte) is 15.5" X 11.5" -- Frame is about 2 3/4" wide.
