Vintage Mexican Folk Art Burnished Clay Pottery Set Vase Cat X Large Green

  

This is a an amazing, vintage, museum-quality, set of Mexican pottery from the famous Solis artists of Tonala, Mexico. The family worked in the burnished (barro brunido) style in the past. This is a rare set as none of the now-adult Solis are creating these works of art anymore. They are famous artists that created amazing, intricate detail in their designs. This set has a lovely green / gray color with highlights of terracotta around their rims and in the artwork.

The fretwork and almost petatillo-style dots and diamond pattern are amazing. They are in excellent condition with the artwork still very vibrant and unmarred and no scratches or worn parts. There was one small chip on the cat ear which has been repaired with epoxy, repainted and sealed to almost an exact match.

You would not notice the repair unless I pointed it out, it is that good. These pieces are exceptionally large.

The cat measures 11 1/2 x 10 x 20. The largest vase is very tall at 25" x 11 with a 5" diameter rim.

The medium vase is 14 1/2 x 7 1/2 with a 4 rim. You will not be disappointed.
